                              ORDINANCE NO. 10675
                
                
                 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHATTANOOGA CITY CODE,
                 PART II, SECTIONS 19-1 AND 19-2, SO AS TO
                 ADOPT THE 1997 EDITION OF THE STANDARD GAS
                 CODE AND CERTAIN APPENDICES AS REVISED AND
                 AMENDED AS THE OFFICIAL GAS CODE OF THE CITY
                 OF CHATTANOOGA, TO AMEND SECTION 19-3
                 CONCERNING AMENDMENTS TO SAID CODE, TO AMEND
                 SECTIONS 19-6(B) THROUGH 19-10  BY DELETING
                 SAME IN THEIR ENTIRETY, TO AMEND SECTIONS
                 19-26 THROUGH 19-32 BY DELETING SAME IN THEIR
                 ENTIRETY, AND TO AMEND SECTION 19-121(B), BY
                 DELETING IT IN ITS ENTIRETY.
                
                
                                                    
                
                
       	    SECTION 1.  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 
OF
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, that Section 19-1, Part II, Chattanooga
       City Code, be and hereby is amended by striking said section in
       its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:
                 SECTION 19-1.  Gas Code Adopted.
                
                 The Standard Gas Code, 1997 edition, one (1)
                 copy of which is, and has been on file in the
                 Office of the City Council Clerk for more than
                 fifteen (15) days, is hereby adopted as the
                 official Gas Code of the City.
                
      
       	    SECTION 2.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Section 19-2, Part
       II, Chattanooga City Code, be amended by striking same in its
       entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following words and 

       figures:

                 SECTION 19-2.  Appendices to Code Adopted.
                
                 The following appendices to the Standard Gas
                 Code, 1997 edition, and as further amended in
                 this chapter, are hereby adopted as part of
                 the official Gas Code of the City:
                
                      Appendix A - Flow of Gas through
                                   Fixed Orifices
                      Appendix D - Example Problems
                      Appendix E - 5-PSI Gas Sizing
                     
       	    SECTION 3.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Section 19-3, Part
       II, Chattanooga City Code, is amended by deleting same in its
       entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following words and 

       figures:
                 SECTION 19-3. Amendments to Code Adopted.
                
                 The following sections and appendices of the
                 Standard Gas Code, 1997 edition, are hereby
                 amended, as hereinafter provided:
                
                 Section 108. Construction Board of Adjustments
                 & Appeals, is amended by striking such Section
                 in its entirety, and substituting in lieu
                 thereof the following:
                
                      Section 108.  Board of Adjustments &
                      Appeals.
                     
                      The Board of Adjustments and Appeals
                      for the Mechanical Codes of the City
                      of Chattanooga as established by
                      Section 2-425, Part II, Chattanooga
                      City Code, shall act as the Board of
                      Adjustments and Appeals for appeals
                      from any decision of the Building
                      Official or his designee and
                      consider variances of the technical
                      codes as provided in this Code.
                     
       	    SECTION 4.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that Sections 19-6(b)
       through 19-10, Part II, Chattanooga City Code, relative to
       appliance standards; conversion of existing piping, appliances;
       furnishing of inspectors; power, duties of inspectors; are 
amended
       by deleting same in their entirety.
      
       	    SECTION 5.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that Sections 19-26
       through 19-32, Part II, Chattanooga City Code, relative to 
permits
       required; temporary uses requirements for gas companies; 
incorrect
       data inapplication; notice correction of defects; effect of
       issuance; inspections; are amended by deleting same in their
       entirety.
      
       	    SECTION 6.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that Section 19-121(b),
       Part II, Chattanooga City Code, relative to installation of Gas
       Systems by non-licensed individuals is amended by deleting same 
in
       its entirety.
      
       	    SECTION 7.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that this Ordinance 
shall
       be effective two (2) weeks from and after its passage as provided 

       by law.
